Hello, how can we help you?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) on Reverb

As online fraud becomes more common, we’re doing everything we can to keep you and our corner of the Internet safe. That’s why we’re offering multi-factor authentication (MFA) as an added layer of security between your account and anyone trying to access it. Plus, if your account does get compromised and suspended, MFA can help you recover your account faster.

What is MFA?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security method that requires you to verify your identity via phone call or SMS before accessing your account. The idea is that even if someone gets into your account one way—say, by stealing your password—they won’t get far without that second verification. MFA is an added layer of security that confirms it's really you by sending a one-time code to your phone.

This quick step can help block scammers from changing your payout details and is one of the most effective ways to block your account from getting taken over.

How to set up MFA

For the web:

  1. Go to My Account.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Toggle on Multi-Factor Authentication.
  4. Follow the steps to turn on MFA.

For iOS:

  1. Select My Reverb on the bottom of the app.
  2. Select Account Security under the Account section.
  3. Toggle on Multi-Factor Authentication.
  4. Follow the steps to turn on MFA.

Once it's set up, you'll get a verification code whenever you make changes to your bank account or payout settings.

When will I need to use MFA?

If you have MFA enabled, it’ll be used when updating your bank account info / payout settings. This is to ensure that you’re the one making the updates.

Occasionally, buyers might be asked to verify their identity through MFA for their payment to get approved. They’ll follow this same process and will be enrolled in MFA moving forward.

Additionally, if your account gets taken over, having MFA enabled allows you to verify your identity and get your account restored by our team in a safe and easy way.

By entering your phone number, you agree to receive automated verification codes from Reverb via text message for account security purposes. Message and data rates may apply. See Reverb's Privacy Policy for details.
