How Do I Package a Record For Shipping?

On February 28, we will be sunsetting Reverb LP. Read more here.

Anxious about the shipping process for a record? We’ve got you covered! This video and guide will provide you with an overview for shipping standard LPs and 45s.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1) LP or 45 Record Mailer

-LP mailer dimensions : 12.5” x 12.5” x 1”

-45 mailer dimensions : 7.5” x 7.5” x.5”

2) Cardboard Inserts (2-4)

-LP insert dimensions : 12” x 12”

-45 insert dimensions  7” x 7”

3) Clear Packing Tape

4) A Permanent Marker or Label Maker

To get started, lie your record mailer on a flat surface. If you’re shipping a used record, remove the poly sleeve and separate the record and inner sleeve from the LP cover.

Next, place one to two inserts on top of your mailer, depending on its depth.

Then, place the record, sleeve, and LP cover onto these inserts. Make sure that the edges are flush, as well.

Place one to two inserts on top of this (record, sleeve, and LP cover). You then should be all set to close the packaging and place tape at the seams.

Once this is secure, you can use a marker or label maker to address this package to the buyer.
