Hello, how can we help you?

Category changes: Amps

Quick answer

On July 29, 2024, we will be updating our Amps category taxonomy to include more specific categories and category names to make it easier for buyers to find the products they’re looking for.

The following categories will be renamed. You will need to use the new category names on your listings, or choose a different category:

  • amps > attenuators becomes amp-attenuators
  • amps > acoustic-amps becomes acoustic-guitar-amps
  • amps > modeling amps becomes guitar-modeling-amps
  • effects-and-pedals > amp-modeling becomes amp-simulators
  • effects-and-pedals > cab-sims becomes cabinet-simulators

The following categories will be added:

  • guitar-amps (organizational only; not accessible for listing)
  • guitar-amps > guitar-amp-stacks
  • guitar-amps > guitar-headphone-amps
  • guitar-amps > guitar-preamps
  • guitar-amps > guitar-power-amps
  • guitar-amps > mini-guitar-amps
  • guitar-amps > pedalboard-guitar-amps
  • bass-amps (organizational only; not accessible for listing)
  • bass-amps > bass-amp-stacks
  • bass-amps > bass-headphone-amps
  • bass-amps > bass-modeling-amps
  • bass-amps > bass-preamps
  • bass-amps > mini-bass-amps
  • bass-amps > pedalboard-bass-amps
  • electronic-drum-amps

While use of these categories is not required, we encourage all sellers to proactively audit their Amps inventory and identify any product listings which should belong to one of the new categories.

I use an API integration or Reverb’s Bulk Inventory Management (CSV) tool - how do I update my listings?

For listings in categories that are being re-named:

  • If you use CSV imports to create and manage listings on Reverb: on or after July 29, 2024, update any listings using one of the old category names to utilize the new category names, or choose a different category.
  • If you use a custom API integration to list directly to Reverb.com: on or after July 29, 2024, your listings must no longer use the deprecated category names. If you use category UUIDs to map categories to your SKUs, no changes are required as the category UUIDs are not changing.
  • If you use a pre-built integrations app or plugin to create and manage your listings on Reverb: on or after July 29, 2024, if you are using an app built by Reverb, please head to the Category Mapping tab in the integration app, resync the categories and ensure no listings are utilizing the old category names. If you are using an integration developed by a third-party, please contact your integration provider for next steps.

For listings in categories that will no longer be available:

  • If you use CSV imports to create and manage listings on Reverb: on or after July 29, 2024, any listings must be updated to no longer use the deprecated category names.
  • If you use a custom API integration to list directly to Reverb.com: on or after July 29, 2024, any listings must be updated to no longer use the deprecated category names or UUIDs. You will need to apply a new product category to your SKUs accordingly. More details on the new category UUIDs can be found in our API documentation Changelog.
  • If you use a pre-built integrations app or plugin to create and manage your listings on Reverb: on or after July 29, 2024, if you are using an app built by Reverb, please head to the Category Mapping tab in the integration app, resync the categories and adjust the category mapping to remove any instances of the deprecated categories from any listings. If you are using an integration developed by a third-party, please contact your integration provider for next steps.

For all other listings:

We encourage all sellers to proactively audit their Amps inventory and identify any product listings which should belong to one of the new categories, and to update these listings accordingly once the new/updated categories are available on July 29, 2024. For example, if you have live listings for Guitar Amp Stacks which are currently categorized into “Guitar Combos”, after the taxonomy is updated we strongly encourage you to recategorize those listings into the new “Guitar Amp Stacks” category. Not doing so could prevent some potential buyers from finding your listings.

  • If you use CSV imports to create and manage listings on Reverb: on or after July 29, 2024, update the category mappings in your CSV file on any listings you wish to recategorize, using https://reverb.com/categories to ensure you are using the correct category names.
  • If you use a custom API integration to list directly to Reverb.com: on or after July 29, 2024, update the category UUIDs on any listing you wish to recategorize. More details on the new category UUIDs can be found in our API documentation Changelog.
  • If you use a pre-built integrations app or plugin to create and manage your listings on Reverb: on or after July 29, 2024, if you are using an app built by Reverb, please head to the Category Mapping tab in the integration app, resync the categories and adjust the category mappings on any other listings you wish to recategorize. If you are using an integration developed by a third party, please contact your integration provider for next steps.
