In order to keep Reverb a trustworthy marketplace for musicians and music lovers of all kinds, we enforce the listing standards laid out below. We have these standards in place to foster a safe, transparent, and compliant online buying and selling experience.
Occasionally, the Reverb Marketplace Integrity Team will need to suspend a listing if it doesn’t fall within Reverb’s listing standards. Some suspensions are permanent, while others may be temporary depending on the issue. If a listing is suspended, you will receive an email noting the reason(s) for the suspension and any further instructions, if applicable. Simply reply to that email once the listing has been updated, or if you need further assistance.
Repeated violations of Reverb’s listing standards may result in restrictions on your account. Please be sure to review our listing standards before listing on Reverb.

Image Issues
A great Reverb listing starts with a great set of listing images. Head here to learn more about taking effective listing photos.
Non-Original Images: We require sellers to upload their own original photography reflecting the item's current condition to avoid violations of intellectual property and to avoid potential not-as-described claims.
Screenshots: This type of image is not allowed on Reverb. Screenshots created from a computer or mobile device often contain elements from the device’s user interface and are lower resolution than full size photographs. We’re unable to promote listings using screenshot images through third party advertisers, which could limit your listing’s exposure to buyers.
Stock Images:Only authorized dealers are permitted to use stock photos on Reverb listings. All other listings must include current, original photos showing the exact item for sale.
Partial Item Photos: Photos showing the entire item for sale are required so that buyers can see the condition of the entire item. Any blemishes, wear, or damage on an item must be photographed and described in the listing. Please be advised that if a buyer reports an issue with an item, and the area where the issue is present was not shown in the listing photos, the seller may be required to take a return.
Boxed or Packaged Images: Listings must include unboxed photos showing the actual item for sale. Unboxed photos show buyers that the item is undamaged and that all included accessories are present. The listing's description can mention that the package was opened solely for the purpose of the photographs. Dealers should also avoid using boxed images and should use stock and/or unboxed images for brand new items.
Text or Graphics on Images: Using photos with added text, borders, manufacturer logos, or other distracting alterations is not allowed. Reverb listings should only include high-resolution images that keep the focus on the piece of gear for sale. A small, cornered watermark can be included in listing images, but nothing more.
Trademark Infringement: Due to federal trademark law, items containing copies of trademarked logo designs are not permitted on the site. In some cases, the infringement can be physically removed and the item rephotographed in order for the item to be listed on the site. Our Marketplace Integrity team will provide details and instructions if that is the case.
Photo Quality: Clear, detailed photos not only inspire buyer confidence and lead to faster sales, they also help protect you from unnecessary claims or returns. We recommend using images that are at least 620 pixels on each side.
Incorrect Images: All listings must contain photos of the item listed for sale.
Image Collage: This type of image is not allowed on Reverb. Reverb is unable to promote listings that use this type of image on the site or through our advertising partners. These images need to be removed or replaced with full photos of the item for sale.
People or Pets in Photos: While we understand it can be fun to include pictures of yourself, others, or your furry friends alongside your gear, these photos prevent Reverb from being able to share or promote your listing on the site or through our advertising partners.
Placeholder Images: All listings should display photos showing the product for sale. Using “Coming Soon” images or anything similar, even temporarily, is prohibited. Please avoid publishing listings until photos of the item for sale have been uploaded.
Data / Text Issues
Including complete and accurate information in your listings will help your items sell quickly and help avoid order disputes. Head here for more information on creating effective listing titles and descriptions.
Unauthorized Brand New Condition: Unless you are an authorized dealer (meaning a manufacturer certified dealer of brand new items being sold with manufacturer warranty support) or the item is handmade, you may not sell items listed as ‘Brand New’ on Reverb, even if the item is technically unused. Mint is the appropriate condition for like-new items that are not being sold brand new with warranty support.
Incorrect Condition: Items need to be listed in the correct condition as defined by Reverb’s gear conditions. Listing in an incorrect condition (such as listing a blemished item in mint condition) can result in claims and disputes. Learn more about how Reverb defines gear conditions here.
Incomplete Description:. Listings with more detailed descriptions give potential buyers a more accurate picture of what they’re viewing, lead to faster sales, and can help you avoid unnecessary claims or returns.
Trademark Language: Due to federal trademark law, trademarked brand names, words, or phrases are not permitted in listings for items that do not correspond to the listed trademarked brand names, words, or phrases. For instance, when listing a clone pedal, the trademarked brand and/or model name of the original pedal cannot be included in the listing details.
Incorrect Category: To ensure your gear reaches the correct audience and is fully searchable on the site, it’s important that the listing matches the correct gear category within our database. Reverb will determine which category is most appropriate for your listing. Please be advised that we do not allow accessories, parts, etc. to be listed in instrument categories - we have separate categories for accessories and parts.
Offsite Language: We do not allow users to solicit offsite transactions on Reverb. Any language that implies offsite contact or transactions is subject to removal.
Item Correction: If you’re using the sell form to match your listing to a product page (i.e. not creating a listing from scratch), please make sure to select the correct product when creating the listing. Mismatched listings can cause buyer confusion and can also lead to order claims or disputes.
Multiple Products: Listings that offer multiple items for individual sale are not allowed. Sellers may have multiple items bundled into a “lot” sale, however items are not allowed to be sold individually through one consolidated listing. In other words, the listing needs to display and describe only and exactly what is for sale for the listed price.
Multiple Product Options: Reverb does not currently support custom options for listings. Each listing in your shop must represent the specific item the buyer will be receiving for their purchase. In other words, listings need to display and describe only and exactly what is for sale with no additional options.
Unrelated / Unnecessary Keywords: Use of irrelevant brand names, model names, or any other unrelated/unnecessary keywords is not allowed. These types of keywords are subject to removal.
Unusual / Incorrect Pricing: While we do not dictate prices on Reverb, we do encourage pricing gear within a range supported by the Reverb Price Guide. Intentionally pricing outside a reasonable window (such as extreme overpricing in order to advertise a misleadingly large price drop for the item) is not allowed. Raising the shipping rate and dropping the listing price to show an inaccurate price drop is also not allowed.
Additional Information / Details Needed: To help potential buyers feel more confident about your listing, please include all relevant information, such as sizes of drums and cymbals, speaker size and configuration in amps, serial numbers, specs, modifications, and condition details.
Contact Information Present: We require all communication about an item or sale to take place on the Reverb platform only.
Inappropriate Language: Reverb is a fully inclusive international marketplace. We do our best to make sure all content on the site is accessible and appropriate for all audiences.
Trade Language:. We do not allow users to solicit gear-for-gear trades on Reverb. Reverb does not permit or support trades on our platform because we have no means of protecting a transaction that involves the exchange of physical goods.
Prohibited Items and Actions
Violations of Reverb’s prohibited items and actions guidelines will result in a permanent listing suspension. If a duplicate listing is created to circumvent a permanent suspension, additional action may be taken on your account. Learn more about Reverb’s prohibited items and actions here.
Trademark Infringing Item: If the design and/or construction of an item is in violation of registered trademarks or patents, the item may not be listed on Reverb due to federal trademark law. In addition, certificates of authenticity and other serialized accessories cannot be listed on the site unless they’re being included in a listing for the corresponding instrument.
Duplicate Listings: Creating a duplicate listing for an item that you’ve already listed is prohibited for any reason. This includes ending and duplicating listings for exposure, and also includes creating a duplicate listing to avoid a listing suspension. In other words, when you list an item on Reverb, that should be your single and only listing for that item. There is no reason to create a duplicate as the original listing can be edited, ended, or relisted at any time.
Explicit / Offensive Imagery: Reverb is a fully inclusive international marketplace. We do our best to make sure all content on the site is accessible and appropriate for all audiences.
Not Music Gear: Reverb is a marketplace for buying and selling musical gear only.
Unauthorized Software: The sale of used software or digital-only products is not allowed on Reverb.
General Consumer Electronics: This type of product is not allowed on Reverb. Although we understand that these products can often be used creatively in a musical setting, Reverb is not set up to host them on the site. This means no computer, laptop, standard camera, TV, cell phone, etc. listings are permitted on Reverb.
Recorded Music: Reverb does not allow listings for digital recordings, CDs, cassettes, vinyl, etc.
Prohibited Materials: Certain materials that may be illegal or ethically questionable (such as tortoise shell or ivory) are not allowed to be sold on the site.
Services: Reverb does not permit special services to be sold on the site. In an effort to protect buyers and sellers on Reverb, we are unable to support cases where items are being delivered to a seller, modified, and then returned to a buyer.
Want Ad: This type of listing is not allowed on the site. Reverb listings are explicitly reserved for sellers who have music gear for sale. We recommend adding the item you’re looking for to your Reverb Feed.
