The following tax policies apply to both new and used gear on Reverb.
For US Buyers:
State sales tax will be charged on applicable orders with a shipping destination in these states. This is not something Reverb put in place independently - all online marketplaces are required to follow these laws and is not something Reverb is able to opt-out of.
For more information, check out our page on Reverb Sales Tax Information and read how the precedent set by the South Dakota v Wayfair, Inc. Supreme Court decision changed taxes on remote sales.
For EU Buyers:
On July 1, 2021, Reverb began collecting import VAT on physical goods under €150 that are shipped to the EU from an outside country.
For items under €150, the Reverb listing price includes the import VAT amount, making it easy to understand how much you will pay for your item at a glance. This VAT is automatically collected from the buyer at the time of purchase, then sent to local tax authorities.
For UK Buyers:
As of January 1, 2021, Reverb is required to collect VAT from buyers on orders that meet the following criteria:
- The buyer is located in the UK.
- The goods are dispatched from outside the UK.
- The total value of the package (excluding delivery) is less than or equal to £135.
Please note: After the buyer completes payment for their Reverb order, VAT has been paid in full and no additional VAT payments are required.
This is a requirement set by the UK's HMRC that applies to all online marketplaces. For more information, you can check out this article by our tax partner, Avalara.
