How can we help you?

What is 3DS/SCA and how might it be blocking or affecting my payment?

Many European countries have begun to enforce a 3DS (3-D Secure) or SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) policy. 3-D Secure is a protocol designed to be an additional security layer for online credit and debit card transactions.

Enforcement for 3DS/SCA will vary by country so it’s important to stay up to date on changes within your region. Read more country specific 3DS/SCA information here.

Reverb fully supports these security verification protocols set by the specific European countries that are enforcing these policies. If you have received an error message from Reverb during the checkout/payment process, then we would strongly recommend that you contact your bank or card issuing company to get clarification on your blocked payment attempt.

If you are still experiencing issues, we recommend trying some troubleshooting actions below:

  • Use an Incognito browser.
  • Try submitting payment from the Reverb app.
  • Ensure VPN is disabled.
  • Ensure pop up or ad blockers are disabled.
  • Try another browser or device.
  • Clear your cache and log back in to try again.
  • Try a mobile browser, as the mobile web is typically the most up-to-date browser one has and supports the most recent security standards.

If payment can still not be made after following the troubleshooting steps, we advise using a different form of payment, such as PayPal or another credit card.
