Selling in-store for retailers on Reverb

Quick answer

Reverb has created a guide to help retailers assess gear for in-store sale value that are deemed as either Mint, Excellent, Very Good, or Good. Only select categories qualify, which can be viewed below. Pending drop-offs can be found on the Drop-offs tab of the shop dashboard under the joint account, and you can use the information below to evaluate the gear upon when the seller visits your shop.

How do I become a participating retailer?

At this time, we are not accepting more retailers into the program during its limited pilot phase. More information will be shared if we decide to expand the program in the future.

Category inspection checklists

At this time, only eligible items in Mint, Excellent, Very Good, or Good condition from select categories qualify for trade-in.

Guitars (Electric, Acoustic, and Bass)

	Mint	Excellent	Very Good	Good
Guitar is completely blemish-free and in otherwise perfect working and cosmetic condition.
Does not have original paperwork / certificates.
Does not have a case or gig bag.
Minor surface level scratches that do not penetrate the paint layers, such as pick marks.
Minor cosmetic imperfections, such as deeper scratches, finish dings, or buckle rash.
Electric Guitars only: Does not have a tremolo arm (only required if the guitar typically comes with one when new).
Significant cosmetic imperfections, such as cracks in the binding or large dents on the body.

Guitars are not eligible for in-store sale if they have any of the following:

Noticeable modifications (e.g. different pickups or tuning pegs than stock).
Significant functional damage, ranging from missing tuning pegs to a broken neck.
Dead spots, fret buzz, or unexpected vibrations exist anywhere along the fretboard.
Action is too high for the guitar to be playable.
Electronics are not functional.

Amps

	Mint	Excellent	Very Good	Good
Amp is completely blemish-free and in otherwise perfect working and cosmetic condition.
Does not have original paperwork / certificates.
Minor surface level scratches on the amp.
Minor cosmetic imperfections, such as dings or small dents that do not affect function or playability of the amp.
Does not have a footswitch (only required if the amp typically comes with one when new).
Significant cosmetic imperfections, such as larger dents or scratches that do not affect function or playability of the amp.

Amps are not eligible for in-store sale if they have any of the following:

Missing power cord.
Noticeable modifications (e.g. different tubes).
Dirty or scratchy pots.
Missing or non-functional dial knobs.
Doesn’t power on or produce expected sound.
Speakers or tubes (if applicable) are damaged.

Pedals & Effects

	Mint	Excellent	Very Good	Good
Pedal is completely blemish-free and in otherwise perfect working and cosmetic condition.
Does not have original paperwork / certificates.
Pedal has velcro or tape on it.
Minor surface level scratches that do not penetrate the paint layers.
Minor cosmetic imperfections, such as small dings and deeper scratches.
Significant cosmetic imperfections, such as scratches or dents in the chassis.

Pedals and effects are not eligible for in-store sale if they have any of the following:

Modifications (e.g. unoriginal circuit compared to stock).
Dirty or scratchy pots.
Missing or non-functional dial knobs.
Does not have a bottom plate.
The footswitch doesn’t work.
Doesn’t power on or produce expected sound.
Audio cable jacks are non-functional.
The power supply input jack is non-functional.
- Note: power supply does not need to be included.

Keys & Synths

	Mint	Excellent	Very Good	Good
Product is completely blemish-free and in otherwise perfect working and cosmetic condition.
Does not have original paperwork / certificates.
Minor surface level scratches that do not penetrate the paint layers.
Minor cosmetic imperfections, such as deeper scratches on the casing.
Significant cosmetic imperfections, such as dings in the paint or slight yellowing on keys.

Keys & Synths are not eligible for in-store sale if they have any of the following:

Noticeable modifications (e.g. new circuits or modified firmware).
Keys are dead, broken, missing, loose, or sticky.
Other significant functional damage (e.g. missing or faulty knobs, pixelated screen display, keybed is separated from the rest of the body).
Electronics are not functional (e.g. audio output, MIDI/USB input).
